Less IS More - Wedding Decor

When it comes to wedding decor most of it makes me want to puke.... Over the top, super tacky, matchy matchy, and expensive!
Sorry if I just offended you.
I plan to keep our decor super simple and lightweight, our venue is pretty enough and has it's own rustic charm. Not to mention it's outdoors and mother nature has done a pretty fabulous job decorating already. It just needs a little sprucing that's all....

Here's a few ideas and I'm sure final decisions:

Little vintage mirrors for the walls in the Dining Hall and the "Booze Hall"

Lots of assorted glass to hold lots of assorted flowers in Peach, Yellow, & White tones

A French Provincial Desk to put place my cakes on!
FLAGS! To drape as garland from the ceilings of the Dining, Dance, and Booze Halls - I like all these styles.

But this one is probably my fave:

Little jars and vintage assorted lanterns with tea lights (battery operated of course) to hang from the trees to light the paths from the Dining Hall down to the Dance Hall, on to the Booze Hall, ending at the Campfire. OH! and the trail leading back to the ceremony of course

Some kind of fun backdrop outside for picture taking

Guest Gift Ideas

My original idea was/still is homemade Jams using my grandmas strawberry recipe and his grandmas apple butter recipe

But lately I've been trying to convince Levi that making 150 little bird houses is a great idea

I love these! They're so cute! Either way, wedding favor or not I'm going to need to learn how to knit

What to dance to first?

Levi and I like music. A lot. Therefore we are having trouble deciding on what song is our song. We have it narrowed down to this list. I'm sure along the way we'll hear something else that will reach out and grab our heart strings but for now here's what we're working with.

Manic Monday Music - Portland Oregon

I love this song by Loretta Lynn & Jack White! Not only because Portland Oregon is my hometown but the lyrics bring back memories of the first night Levi & I "met". We ditched a house party, picked up a six pack and wondered the old neighborhoods on the East side of Portland. We shared an admiration for the huge old homes, talked about life, cracked a few jokes, stopped to rest on school porches, and totally lost track of time in each others company.

Next day we knew last night got drunk
But we loved enough for the both of us
In the morning when the night had sobered up
It was much too late for the both of us in Oregon

Meet Our Photographer

Scott McNamara!

I am so excited about him I could just scream!
I've spent countless hours searching the web for a photographer I like and that Levi would agree with (<---- This can be very challenging, Levi is even pickier than I am). I knew I was looking for someone that had a certain style to them, something that was different, something that was natural, someone with "the right eye".  Something that was us. Any photographer that came close to what I was looking for was located in some far off distant land .....Ok not really, more like California but when you're getting married in Oregon and you're on a budget flying a photographer up doesn't really sound reasonable. Right when I was getting ready to settle for less I found Scott! Located right here in Portland Oregon! I immediately sent his website over to Levi via email and received a response back in less than 30 seconds that said "YES".
We met with Scott as soon as possible. After chatting over coffee, going through his portfolio and coming up with a plan that worked best for all of us we knew he was our guy! Not only is his work: Artistic, beautiful, different, and makes you say ooooooo & aaahhhhh, he captures ones true self by not allowing the photographs to be posed. When Scott told us he's never shot an indoor wedding and that he used to be a nature/wildlife photographer the answer was obvious. DUH! He's is the perfect photographer for our outdoor old growth forest camp wedding!

Here's a taste of what he's capable of:

We'll be working with Scott for our engagement photos, our big day, and the day after.
I KNOW! I'M ANXIOUS TOO!
