Ellie Goulding 'Your Song'

A beautiful Elton cover: I dig it.

Manic Monday Music

It's another Manic Monday and what's a better cure than music?
I like to add songs that remind me of of Levi.
Today's Monday belongs to Neil Young's Harvest Moon because it's constantly on his guitar.

Marital Advice

Levi and I have a box, and in that box we are collecting little love notes handwritten on fun stationary to each other over the next year and a half so we can display all the reasons we love one another at our wedding. It's a fun way to make our guests really feel the love, BUT this is a great idea! Found on 100layercake.com is a marital advice board! I think this would compliment our wall of love well and be something fun for us to read afterwards maybe on the airplane to our honeymoon. :o)

Handmade Garland

How cute is this cupcake liner! I'm not exactly sure what I would use it on yet but I like it.....
Maybe over a barn entrance (If I FIND a place that has a barn!), or maybe even as a table runner????? Endless possibilities!
I found the idea on 100 Layer Cake, a very helpful site for the D.I.Y bride, and right up my ally!

A Bridal Show

This past weekend I had plans for my mother, all my bridesmaids, and myself to go to the Portland Bridal Show. I wasn't really sure what to expect, I was just hoping to get some ideas and impute from a few of my already married maids. What works, what doesn't, what's fun, what sucks, what should I spend money on?.... And ideas of what all my maids like, even though it's "my day" I want them to have a good time, feel involved, and really be able to enjoy themselves instead of feeling like I'm some sort of Bridezilla....
The attendance turned out to be a bust, I only had 2 out of 7 make it. Things come up, people run late, and the show sold out. No biggie...... We still had a blast and the two that made it I swear were more excited than I was which added to my excitement! Free cake everywhere, fun photobooths, free food, GREAT discounts and a fashion show! Personally I didn't like any of the dresses, but my mom got some good ideas for her mother of the bride gown. + I entered to win lots of free stuff! Who doesn't like free stuff????
I highly recommend attending this event for future brides, the photography discounts are HUGE! I'm talking thousands of dollars HUGE! I recently made the decision to pay big bucks for a photographer because it's going to be a day I want to remember for the rest of my life and because... well I've never had professional pictures taken, and now I wont have to fork out as much cash as I was expecting to for a good photographer!

Here's a fun picture we got to take sampling a photobooth rental @ the show.

A hairdo to do

I have the type of hair that will pretty much do whatever you tell it to do. Sure...... you say I'm lucky but really, am I? It's REALLY thick, long and and curly, not tight curls just a settle wave. Now you think I'm just being a brat right? Well first off with those curls comes a naturally dry texture, and lots and lots of FRIZZ! Heaven forbid I straighten my hair and hit some humidity, let alone have it rain! It's insta fro! Did I mention I live in Portland, Oregon? I'd rather be caught dead with dirty underpants than be caught dead without a bottle of hair gel.
Anyway back to my topic of today: A hairdo. I really like braids, I'm not sure if it's a trend thing or if I do them because it's an easy way to keep my hair under control and I don't have to spend hours drying it....... But on my big day I know I want my hair down (YES A BRAID IS DOWN), I don't want it all over the place blowing around getting stuck in my lip gloss, and I want to show off a rad pair of earrings.
Here's a few similar braids I found that help put what I'm thinking into your thoughts:

First off a long side bride when pulling off the braid look is a must and I love the fishtail. I don't care for the top of "Fergi's" head in this pic, it's to flat. I like my hair messy it makes my big face look smaller. For the top I want whispies coming off the sides bangs poofed up, pulled back, and secured with a headband full of fun flowers and feathers on the side... maybe not feathers.... maybe not flowers.... but some sort of head piece like sequins? Or maybe I'll have sweep bangs.... And don't forget the bouffant poof in the back that's a given!

I love how messy and thick this braid is! I'm hoping by 2012 my hair is so long I'm able to pull off this full of a look... If not there's always clip in extensions I can buy at my local beauty supplier off of MLK ( LOVE THAT STORE) . Assuming by 2012 this is still how I picture my hair.

All for it to look as happy as this picture does

Handmade Weddings In A Text Book!

Inspiration Alert!!!!!

I Adore Being Dressed in Something Frilly

I'm letting my maids choose their own dresses because I don't like matching outfits and I'd like a variety of shapes, textures and patterns in my lineup. I'm going with a Vintage/Victorian theme with a Western Kick so I'd like to keep my colors of the deeper shades in a plum, navy, and mustard yellow. The softer shades being peach, ivory and browns.
I hope this helps inspire you girls!
All images brought to you by http://www.modcloth.com/ and are under $100!

Simple and sweet with a ruffled touch

I would love to see a few flower patters in the mix

Maybe we want to be a little fancier?

I LOVE FUN SHOES!

Little Love Dittie

Probably the cutest cover ever!

Silver Creek Falls Youth Camp

Levi & I both agree that this seems to be our best option! We love it! We love that it has so much rustic charm, a dining hall with a professional kitchen, a dance hall, lots of little cabins (you could even pop some tents), and it's not to far from Portland for our guests who would like to sleep in their own beds!
It's secluded and the park is BEAUTIFUL! Old growth forest, lots of waterfalls, and funky little lodges all call this park home. Great photo opportunities and a great location to wine, dine, and be marry with our family & friends!

Old Ranch at Silver Falls State Park

Levi & I checked out the Old Ranch @ Silver Falls State Park. We really liked it and you can camp on the property the only problem is it only accommodates 50 vehicles and all other vehicles have to park outside of the park oh and that you can only reserve it 6 months in advance to your event and they book up FAST..... On the plus side it's very reasonably priced. There is also a huge campground and cabins for rent throughout the property, you can bring horses, and there is a 10 mile hike with 10 diff rent waterfalls to see. One fall you can even walk behind and it has an old curved stone wall..... Imagine the photo opportunities there!

Paradise Inn

This looks amazing! I really think it would be cool for Levi and I to get married at Mt. Rainier since we got engaged at the top of Mt. St. Helens with a killer view of Rainier off into the distance.
From one Mountain to the next. That and I really want a mountain as a back drop!

Beautiful Montana Venues!

We just returned from my future husbands homeland. MONTANA!
While we were there we checked out a few wedding venues. All promising, some more than others.... Not to mention our goal is to share as many of our favorite things with our guest as we can: A few of those could be a grilled cheese buffet, giant mounds of Oreo cookies, pies, Thai food or mexican, live music, and of course Montana.

We did not look at this venue, I just happen to come across this one on the internet hence the update... It's called the Woodlands and it's located 10 minutes outside of Bozeman. It's a secluded location, with lots of accommodations I say yes to: Overnight accommodation? YES! Choose your own caterer? YES! Bring your own booze? YES! Provide linens, tables, and chairs? YES! Do you do the clean up? YES! Can you have dogs? YES!!!

I love that it's nestled in the trees! And if I remember correctly, there should be mountains around as well.... I'm pretty sure I recall Bozeman being surrounded by giant peaks!

Montana always makes for a beautiful backdrop for photographs, this one is on the property. I bet it's amazing in the fall!
For more information visit the website

This is the St. Joseph's Church in Canton Valley Montana built in 1875-76.
Before we even got engaged we both thought it would be amazing to get married on the property of an old abandoned church out in the middle of nowhere! We stumbled upon this rustic church during one of many road trips to see the beautiful surroundings Montana has to offer. It's really out in the middle of nowhere, but not far from Helena. I'm waiting on a call back about using the property as a venue.

Here's a little History Lesson for you

Oh the old wagon, I wonder where have you gone, who did you carry, and what did your steeeeeeeds look like?

This barn is at the Ranch Club in Missoula Montana.

They have a sweet rustic barn but it's located on a golf course. We thought this place was pretty and the barn is what we are looking for but the location isn't rustic enough for us.
Could possibly be a back up plan..... ?

Cool little party house on the property

I just thought this snow heart was the cutest thing! Photo by me.

Ahhhhh the Springhill Pavilion! This is definitely in the running for our wedding!
This venue sits at the foot of 9,200’ Ross Peak Mountain. Here you see the dining hall and the dance hall. Sally & Chum are two of the nicest people we've met, and they put no limits on your special day! All the parking you need, music all night long, you can bring your own food, they put up flowers everywhere, and they allow you to camp out on their AMAZING property because that is how it was done back in the 1800's when it was to dark to get the horses/wagons back home.
This photo was taken during the filming of The Horse Whisperer. Yes ladies Robert Redford was here!

Inside the dance hall looking out at the main door

These windows lined both sides of the dance hall reviling amazing views of Scottish Highland Cattle, and the breath taking mountains you're surrounded by.

The stage for a band and a cozy fireplace, I'd seriously considering moving my wedding to the fall so we can use the fire place and the wood burning stoves in the pavilion and the dining hall.

A big red barn to complete the view. This place had everything you could want and more!
